Dr. Stracks and his wife at the beach

Dr. John Stracks and his wife, Lisa Stracks, are the Co-Founders and Directors of Cormendi Health. They started Cormendi to provide an alternative approach to conventional medical care, bringing hope to people who feel they’ve run out of options. At the core of their practice is kindness and understanding—because each patient is a person who deserves to be known.

At Cormendi Health, one of our goals is to form a relationship with each of our patients. Below you’ll find some information about us, but we want you to know: We can’t wait to get to get to know you!

Dr. John Stracks, MD, is the Medical Director of Cormendi and an integrative family physician.

He attended the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He has also completed both a residency in Family Medicine and a fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor; he is board certified in both fields. He has a background in social work, which taught him to get to know each person as an individual—and this informs his work with each client to this day.

Dr. Stracks has spent his entire medical career focusing on integrative strategies for healing. He is especially interested in the effect of emotions on physical symptoms; complex thyroid disorders; hormonal issues, including menopausal symptoms; chronic pain and other chronic symptoms; migraines; chronic fatigue; mental health issues; and digestive issues. His goal in every case is to use medication only as a last resort. Instead, he utilizes a combination of dietary changes, supplements, vitamins, stress reduction, hormones, and psychology to activate and optimize the body’s natural abilities to heal.

In his research, Dr. Stracks has studied the physiological effects of loneliness, intuitive eating strategies, and mind-body solutions for fibromyalgia. He has lectured nationally on mind-body strategies for healing chronic pain and was the co-organizer of two international conferences on the subject. Some of his other lecture topics have included holistic treatments for depression, traumatic brain injury, and celiac disease.

When he’s not working with his patients, Dr. Stracks likes to spend time with Lisa, his wife, and Anneke and Harrison, his two children. He enjoys reading, doing yoga, hiking, and barbecuing, and recently discovered stand-up paddleboarding.
